2016 has been a busy year for Laings. As well as being part of some wonderful engagements and providing the perfect gifts we’ve been busy bees getting up to all sorts of exciting things!

Visiting the Watch Fairs
SALON INTERNATIONAL DE LA HAUTE HORLOGERIE
Back in January, Laings visited one of the most prestigious watch trade fairs, the SIHH. Our Assistant Watch Manager, Haydn Ashcroft went along to catch-up with some of the luxury watch makers. For him, IWC was the stand-out brand with some amazing pieces from the beautifully overhauled Pilot Collection. The IW324001 – Pilot 36 Automatic definitely caught his eye, perfectly understated, with a classic design, it’s proven to be a very popular watch.
Spring arrived in 2016 with one of the most exciting dates in the watch world’s calendar – Baselworld. With over 145,000 visitors from all over the world we were definitely excited to see what some of the biggest names in the watch and jewellery industry had on offer. We spied some truly fabulous models from the likes of Patek Philippe, Rolex, Tudor, TAG Heuer and of course, many more!
Seasons Change
With the Summer sun on the way it was time for a makeover at Laings. We filled our windows with sparkling sunshine, hoping to brighten your day as you wandered through the Argyll Arcade. There were some glittering yellow diamonds to perfectly capture that summer sun, an array of coloured stones for a pop of colour and, of course, some dazzling diamonds that you can’t go wrong with any time of year!
Autumn is a really beautiful season. Golden leaves fall to the ground and there’s something really luxurious about this time of year. With the help of a fantastic team we put together a special video for you, introducing the new season at Laings – expect the finest collection of beautiful jewellery and indulgent watches!

When winter arrived we wanted to turn frosty days into sparkling ones! This winter we’ve been here to help you ‘Make Their Dreams Come True’. Whether that special someone is dreaming of diamonds, luxurious watches or timeless jewellery it’s been all about glitter, glamour and granting Christmas wishes!
AND HOW DID WE CREATE THESE BEAUTIFUL LOOKS….
In the Summer Laings embarked on a mission to capture our dazzling diamonds and stunning watches in all their glory. We assembled a team of experts and the 2016 photoshoot began. We captured looks for all four seasons, as well as a stunning bridal look – keep your eyes peeled for more to come! We had the task of showing-off the stunning pieces from Laings, as well as telling the story of each season and, if we do say so ourselves, we think our team definitely stepped up to the challenge.
A Sparkling Collection of Jewellery
BEAUTIFUL BESPOKE DESIGNSThe bespoke team at Laings are always busy bringing jewellery dreams to life and this year was no exception! As more people are looking for an extra special piece of jewellery that’s personal to them a beautiful piece of bespoke jewellery is becoming more and more sought after. There was a musical engagement ring that was designed as a treble clef, as well as a bespoke engagement ring with a striking zig-zag design. We also saw the makeover of older pieces being transformed into something sparkling and new.
THE BOTANIC COLLECTION 
In 2016 we saw the introduction of The Botanic Collection. Designed by our head designer, Kirsty Berry, each piece of the collection is hand-made in our Glasgow workshop and is exclusive to Laings. Inspired by nature and the green-spaces of Glasgow the collection enhances the natural beauty and femininity of the wearer with beautiful natural designs.
MEETING ANDREW GEOGHEGAN
Back in the Autumn we were lucky enough to catch up with the award-winning designer Andrew Geoghegan. Known for his striking designs and statement jewellery an Andrew Geoghegan piece is something really special. We sat down with the man himself and found out all about ‘The Path to Jewellery Design’, ‘The Inspiration Behind the Jewellery’ and ‘Life As a Jewellery Designer’.
Social Butterflies
TURNBERRY LADIES LUNCHIn the Summer Turnberry held a glamorous Ladies Who Lunch event in aid of The Eric Trump Foundation and Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity. Laings also headed along for an afternoon of glitz and glamour! We set up an exclusive pop-up shop for the ladies with a beautiful selection of jewellery. We were also kept busy keeping diamonds dazzling at the complimentary jewellery cleaning station. A truly fabulous afternoon was had by all!
At the very end of November Patek Philippe joined Laings for a fabulous evening of fine dining and haute horlogerie at Hotel du Vin. The exclusive evening celebrated the 2016 collection of Patek Philippe timepieces, with their travelling exhibition being the star of the show. The guests were able to browse the watches from the prestigious brand, before enjoying a mouth-watering meal from Hotel du Vin. It was a truly wonderful evening that oozed luxury.
