Jaeger-LeCoultre - Vallée de Joux factory

Walking around the Jaeger-LeCoultre factory was an amazing sight to behold. At each of the work stations, the employees were more than happy to stop and explain the process that they were going through which was fascinating. With every part of each watch being handmade, there was a lot to see but every station was captivating. Being used to seeing the watch as a finished piece, the opportunity to see the process from start to finish has given me with a lasting impression of the craftsmanship involved. Whilst I thought I knew the brand well, seeing the watches made first hand was a completely different experience. Being able to feel the passion that the workers have for the brand made me even more enthusiastic about Jaeger-LeCoultre and took the company to another level for me.

Observing the whole Jaeger-LeCoultre journey meant that I now have the ability to go back to the Edinburgh store and share my experience with the other members of the team. For me, the most important part of the trip was being able to share my knowledge with customers. Our trainer was able to not only to pass on her knowledge but also her love for the brand. It was easy to see that everyone within the factory from the workers to those teaching visitors like us were proud to work for Jaeger-LeCoultre and its long standing traditions. As a result, everyone on the visit also felt the same excitement for the brand. One of the most memorable parts of the trip for me was being able to see the production, testing and setting of the Atmos clock, as this is something I have always had a keen interest in.

Part of the training involved us being split into groups and presenting to the others on a specific watch. This gave a huge amount of insight into many of the Jaeger-LeCoultre pieces. The rich history of the brand was also brought to life during the visit and the classic love story of Memovox in the Master Control family made a lasting impression. Overall the visit has given me a new passion for the brand and shown me that Jaeger will go to any lengths just to make the most of even the smallest details in their watches. With the images of the factory still in my mind, I feel I can go back to Edinburgh with a reinforced interested in the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand and now have the ability to share this experience with both colleagues and customers. Seeing the meticulous way in that the watches are produced illustrated to me the quality and history and why they are a world renowned brand.
