In this feature we like to get to know a little about some of the characters from the team here at Laings and ask them what it is about jewellery and watches that they love. Today we meet E-commerce assistant Rebecca Baillie who has just joined the online team and is enjoying the new challenge of working behind the scenes on the Laings of Glasgow website.
What is your favourite jewellery/watch piece that you own?
I would say, my Mikimoto pearl earrings and necklace set, I love it because it evokes the classic elegance of the 50's which is my favourite era. I consider Mikimoto pearls to be the best because they have unbeatable luster and the highest quality craftsmanship. I also love the history behind the brand and Mikimoto Kokichi's modest beginnings from a humble grocer to the celebrated inventor of the cultured pearl.
Who is your celebrity style icon?
My celeb style icon is Elizabeth Taylor, because she brought glamour to everyday life in everything she did and she wasn't afraid to live and to love. She could pull off the fabulous ballroom-tiara look without question.
What piece of jewellery/watch would you aspire to own?
My aspirational piece is the classic diamond line bracelet - I see it like the jewellery version of the little black dress, every girl should have one! My style tip is you should always match your bracelet to your earrings.
What would be your Engagement Ring style choice, Classic, Vintage, Modern Classic or Unique?
100% certain that it has to be vintage, in particular the Diamond By Appointment Pear Cut Diamond Ring , this is my choice because I love the distinctive style, and the halo of pave diamonds around the central stone elevates the overall sparkle. Its an unashamed glamour piece and I think even Elizabeth would agree!
If you were a character from a movie who would you be?
I would choose Marilyn Monroe in the 7 Year Itch because everyone remembers her in that film and the 'white dress scene' is an iconic moment in cinema history. I adore the fashion in the movie and always tend to veer towards the style of the 50's when I have an occasion to get glammed up for.
What about your birthstone, would you stick with your original or change it if you had the choice?
I am July (Ruby) but I would change to April (Diamond) because diamonds are the ultimate versatile accessory - there is no outfit in existence that a diamond won't enhance.
In your opinion what is the best buy available in your store?
