Evolving Watchmaking Artistry: Patek Philippe at Watches and Wonders 2023

Patek Philippe unveils its 2023 collection, reimagining legendary collections and demonstrating unparalleled watchmaking artistry in a series of Travel Time watches, Haute Joaillerie timepieces and contemporary reinventions of its most signature collections.

Grandmaster Chime

Patek Philippe revisits its most complicated timepiece at this year’s Watches and Wonders, presenting Ref. 6300 in white and rose gold as well as a breath-taking Haaute Joaillerie version. Ref. 6300GR which consists of over 20 complications and is evolved with a double-sided case displaying an exquisitely decorated brown opaline dial with a hand-guilloched hobnail patterned case. Uniting Haute Horlogerie and Haute Joaillerie, Patek Philippe introduces the Ref. 6300/403G in white gold, embellished with 118 baguette-cut emeralds and 291 baguette-cut diamonds. Amongst its 20 complications, each of these watches includes five acoustic functions, including two patented world exclusives: an alarm sounding the programmed time and a date-repeater striking the date at will.

Minute Repeater, Tourbillon, Retrograde Perpetual Calendar

Patek Philippe introduces the renowned Reference 5316 with contemporary reinventions including a platinum case with a blue metallised sapphire crystal dial and black-gradient rim. Combining a number of signature watchmaking complications including a minute-repeater, a tourbillon and a perpetual calendar with retrograde date display and moon-phase indication, this timepiece encompasses some of the most sought-after technologies in fine watchmaking. In true Patek Philippe fashion, these complications are elegantly presented in a breathtaking platinum case and hand-stitched navy blue calfskin strap.

Minute Repeater, World Time

A timepiece which made waves in the world of watchmaking in 2017 as the first minute-repeater to always chime at local time, Ref. 5531 is introduced in a stunning white gold version. In honour of its incredible Travel Time complications, the dial of Ref. 5531G is adorned with a cloisonné Grand Feu enamel motif depicting one of the famous steamships of the Belle Époque fleet which is still sailing on Lake Geneva today. Often named the most beautiful steamship in the world, it is only fitting for this to grace the dial of a Patek Philippe timepiece. The entirely hand-crafted masterpiece demonstrates the superlative nature of artistry at Patek Philippe.

Minute Repeater

Patek Philippe continues to keep alive rare and traditional artistry techniques in its watchmaking, exquisitely demonstrated in Minute Repeater Ref. 5178G. The new timepiece is adorned with Rare Handcrafts showcased on the flinqué blue Grand Feu enamel dial. The white gold dial plate is finely hand-guilloched with a swirling pattern before being coated with translucent enamel. Famed for its rich and deep sound created by the two “cathedral” gongs twice as long as their traditional counterparts, the new Ref. 5178G will be a welcome addition to a much-loved timepiece.

Calatrava 24-hour display, Travel Time

A reinvention of a classic Patek Philippe reference, the Calatrava is reintroduced in a model combining its signature elegance with an original 24-hour display. Ref. 5224R is exquisitely designed with a legible navy-blue dial, enhanced by a double railway-track scale for the hours and minutes. This timepiece is distinguished by its pristine finishes, with 44 rose-gold polished appliques and exquisitely finished dial displays which create beautiful plays of light. To provide its functions, Patek Philippe’s engineers took the 31-260 ultra-thin self-winding base caliber and added a 24-hour mechanism and a Travel Time mechanism, creating a new original movement.

Flyback Chronograph, Annual Calendar

Uniting two renowned Patek Philippe complications, Ref. 5905R-010 brings together the self-winding flyback chronograph and Annual Calendar, presented in a new rose gold version with a sunburst blue dial. This new interpretation represents the enduring style of this signature model, exuding contemporary yet timeless elegance.

Calatrava Pilot Travel Time Chronograph

Patek Philippe introduces two new additions to its Pilot style watch series, the first to feature the chronograph complication. The distinguished design is modified in two white gold versions, one with a khaki green lacquered dial and olive green strap (Ref. 5924G-010) and the other with a sunburst blue-grey dial and grained navy blue calfskin strap (Ref. 5924G-001) . The distinct timepiece with a vintage aesthetic combines Travel Time function and date indication with the chronograph.

Calatrava, Date, Sweep Seconds

A contemporary reimagination, Patek Philippe introduces three new white gold Calatrava timepieces with a modern, graphic style. The original dynamic design is enhanced by touches of yellow (6007G-001), red (6007G-010) or sky blue (6007G-011) on the counters and seconds hands as well as on the stitching and lining of the black calfskin straps with embossed “carbon” pattern. The contemporary finishes are combined with the traditional craftsmanship which gains Patek Philippe its world-renowned appreciation, with self-winding caliber 26-330 S C at the heart of the new timepieces.

Ladies Calatrava Joaillerie

Trailblazers in the realm of ladies’ timepieces, Patek Philippe develops its impressive range of ladies’ watches with a new version of the self-winding Calatrava Reference 4997 in rose gold. Ref. 4997/200R is strikingly modern, with a bold and beautiful purple wave dial and complementing purple calfskin strap. This timepiece yet again demonstrates the highest standards of rare handcrafts with a concentric wave pattern dial, coated with more than fifty successive layers of translucent lacquer to create a fascinating depth effect.

Gondolo Serata

A remarkable display of expert gemsetting, Patek Philippe returns to the Gondolo collection with Ref. 4962/200R-001, a unique, slightly larger rose gold version adorned with 94 brilliant cut spessartites arranged in colour gradient from cognac tones to mandarine tones. The timelessly elegant watch features a brown lacquered dial that is decorated with a floral motif playing on the contrast between matt and polished finishes. The chocolate brown calfskin strap with a satinated finish echoes the dial colour.

Aquanaut Luce Annual Calendar

The undeniable character and casual chicness of the Aquanaut has affirmed its cult status for over 25 years. This new version marks a monumental chapter in the collection, affirming its status as a practical yet elegant watch. Ref. 5261R introduces the first Aquanaut Luce with a patented Annual Calendar – a complete day/date/month calendar requiring only one manual correction per year, at the end of February. This new addition demonstrates Patek Philippe’s unwavering commitment to creating innovative ladies’ watches.

Aquanaut Chronograph and Aquanaut Luce

The self-winding Aquanaut chronograph for men, already available in steel and in white gold, also sports a rose-gold case for the new Aquanaut Chronograph Reference 5968R-001, endowed with a sunburst dial in a gradient of brown to black, and a matching composite strap. Patek Philippe reinterprets the self-winding Aquanaut Luce in rose gold with an elegant "taupe" coloured dial and strap, a warm shade of grey that matches the "contemporary sporty chic" style of this ladies' model.
