In 2013, Chopard embarked on a journey to sustainable luxury with an ambitious long-term commitment driven by making a positive difference to our planet.

The family-owned Maison possesses a great awareness of the environmental challenges facing the jewellery and watch industry and is working towards ethical sourcing raw materials, a cleaner supply chain and transparency about business practices.

Responsible Sourcing

Marking one of the greatest milestones in its journey to sustainable luxury, in 2018 Chopard achieved its goal of sourcing responsibly mined gold for its entire watch and jewellery production. Through two transparent and traceable schemes, artisanal and small-scale mining, Chopard now mines gold in a responsible manner.

Chopard Components

Sustainable luxury for Chopard does not end with sourcing gold, it also extends to straps and leather goods accessories. Consequently, Chopard is committed to building internal standards covering traceability, social and environmental impact, as well as animal welfare regarding other key raw materials such as leather.

Climate and Energy

Committed to reinforcing action against climate change, Chopard is determined to minimise energy consumption and is striving towards a shift to renewable sources. This cause is demonstrated in Chopard’s Swiss facilities, which are supplied by 100% renewable electricity. In 2010, the Fleurier Ebauches production site became the largest renovated building in Neuchâtel, Switzerland to receive the low-energy-consumption Minergie certification.

Chopard Happy Sport Watch

Each ethically created Chopard watch or jewellery piece is homed in packaging which has been produced with sustainability in mind. Chopard ensures all packaging now features materials certified by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC®), Oeko-Tex and the Programme for Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC). With an evolutionary approach, Chopard is constantly searching for lower environmental impact materials in all areas of its designs including steel hinges, fastening systems, paper and wood.
