Panerai announce commitments towards an even more sustainable future, based on a circular use of natural resources, in its 2021 new releases at Watches and Wonders.

Through innovative and pioneering practices, Panerai leads the watchmaking industry for its commitment towards sustainability. Beginning with the necessary certifications to improve the quality and design characteristics of the timepieces, Panerai has now reached an unprecedented milestone in the watchmaking industry for recycled-based materials.

Panerai stays true to its mission to bring more sustainable practices to the world of watchmaking with a Luminor Marina built from an innovative metal. The Luminor has been at the forefront of the brand's technical innovations and remains so today, becoming the first Panerai watch to feature one of the most remarkable technological achievements in the brand's history: eSteel. 89g of the Luminor Marina eSteel components are made of recycled-based materials, corresponding to 58.4% of the watch's total weight. Both the case and dial of Luminor Marina eSteel feature the new recycled-based steel alloy.

Laings Watch specialist Ben Rodger discusses the importance of this model to the luxury watch industry.

"Panerai has once again shown its innovation and sustainable approach in the manufacture of these timepieces. As our environmental impact is a vital and worldwide issue, it is great that Panerai has brought this to the forefront of watch enthusiasts' minds."

Ben's favourite watch in the collection is the Luminor eSteel Verde Smeraldo.

"The 44mm brushed eSteel case is accompanied by a khaki green sandwich dial and recycled textile khaki strap. This watch is perfect to wear at the weekend. As a highly active person, I want to wear a watch that can do it all, from exercising, hill walking, bike riding to getting dressed up in the evenings – this watch has the versatility to do this with ease."

At Watches and Wonders 2021, Panerai launches its new Luminor Chronograph line to build on the renowned model, propelling it into future with a new automatic chronograph caliber, the P.9200. The collection launches with three models, all mechanically identical, but with differentiated colourways with dials in blue, black, or white – timeless and classic. With an operating frequency of 28,800 vph, the Luminor Chronograph has a power-reserve that can last 42 hours. Even better, all three models boast 100M of water resistance, making it the ideal choice for explorers.

Luna Rossa PAM1303

Described as “the ultimate sports watch” by Jean-Marc Pontroué, CEO of Officine Panerai, the Luna Rossa PAM1303 makes an enduring impression. The watch launches with the instantly distinguishable colour scheme of the Luna Rossa Prada Pirelli team in navy, red and white. Capturing the essence of the sea but in a way that defies traditional nautical themes, the model allows the regal, gentlemanly sportsman the feeling of being part of the Italian team’s oceanic expeditions.
