We were delighted to showcase the 2020 Patek Philippe Exhibition collection in our Southampton store. On display, there was an array of impressive timepieces and here we look at some of our top picks from the 2020 novelties.

The release of the Patek Philippe 2020 novelties delighted watch lovers, and we were pleased to give them the opportunity to view the exceptional display of watch artistry. We hosted the Patek Philippe Exhibition collection in our Southampton store inviting watch aficionados and customers to marvel at the remarkable craftsmanship and refined designs that characterise Patek Philippe watches.

Let’s explore some of our favourite models from the 2020 Patek Philippe Exhibition collection…

ANNUAL CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH REF. 5905R

The spectacular timepiece unites two Patek Philippe complications that are highly prized amongst connoisseurs – a self-winding flyback chronograph and a patented Annual Calendar. Another impressive detail is the vertical clutch, as it’s virtually friction-free, the centre chronograph hand can also serve as a permanent seconds hand. Powered by the self-winding mechanical movement, Caliber CH 28‑520 QA 24H it beautifully demonstrates Patek Philippe’s watchmaking expertise.

The coveted Ref. 5905 now comes in a new version, with a rose gold case and brown sunburst dial, gradually grading to black at the periphery. The strap completes its luxurious look, with alligator square scales, hand-stitching and a black shiny finish.

PERPETUAL CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH REF. 5270J-001

This majestic classic has been given a new yellow-gold personality. As an extension of their regular collection this grand complication has been cased in yellow gold for the first time, creating an elegant, yet striking look. Every detail has been thought out to complement this new identity. The silvery opaline dial has leaf-shaped hands in yellow gold to assure excellent legibility, and the rich colour is enhanced by the hand-stitched matt chocolate brown alligator strap, secured with a yellow gold fold-over clasp.

The handsome timepiece is just as reliable as it is stylish. Powered by the caliber CH 29-535 PS Q it combines traditional architecture with six patented innovations for the chronograph functions and stands out with its extremely thin calendar mechanism. The movement can be admired through the sapphire-crystal case-back, demonstrating that this wristwatch is one to be admired from every angle.

TWENTY~4 AUTOMATIC REF. 7300/1200R

The Patek Philippe Twenty~4 is a self-winding mechanical ladies’ watch, designed to set the pace of life in style for the modern, active woman. It acts as an embodiment of feminine elegance, and the Twenty~4 Automatic is the first model in the collection to feature a round case. To further accentuate its style the rose gold version, with diamond-set bezel is available with a brown sunburst or silvery dial enriched with a shimmering vertical and horizontal satin finish that is reminiscent of wild shantung silk.

The beating heart of the timepiece is the caliber 324 S C self-winding movement, which is visible through the sapphire-crystal case back. Displaying hours, minutes and sweep seconds, as well as including the date in a small aperture at 6 o’clock it’s a timepiece that is just as functional as it is fashionable.

CELESTIAL SKY CHART REF. 6102R-001

This is a personal favourite from our Southampton Store Manager, Andy Andreou

“As an astronomy enthusiast, I was really excited to showcase the Sky Chart Celestial 6102R-001. The dial can show you, at any time, the exact configuration of the nocturnal sky in the northern hemisphere, with the movement of the stars, as well as the phases and orbit of the moon – which on your wrist is just awesome!”

Highlighting Patek Philippe’s great tradition of astronomical watches, the Celestial devotes its dial to a rotating chart of the heavenly bodies. Two skeletonized hands point to the hours and minutes of mean solar time. An Ellipse, deposited on the underside of the sapphire glass, frames the portion of the sky visible from Geneva and all other cities located at the same latitude. It’s truly an incredible timepiece.
