Meet the team at Laings! Based in our Glasgow Head Office Julia has been spending time with Laings, working alongside the Marketing Department as part of an Internship Programme. Balancing working whilst studying at university she helps the team, assisting with everything from advertising to social media strategy.
Meet the team and let’s find out more about Julia’s role and what it’s like working behind the scenes at Laings.
Tell us about your role at Laings?
At Laings I work as an intern alongside the marketing department. This involves writing blog entries, creating social media posts, assisting with campaigns and helping the team out with anything else they need.
What's your favourite thing that you've worked on?
My favourite thing has definitely been the photoshoot for our 2020 campaign. We worked with such an amazing team of people and achieved fantastic results. It was so interesting to be behind the scenes, seeing all of the effort and detail that goes into every shot was fascinating.
Do you have a favourite piece of jewellery that you currently own?
I think my favourite piece of jewellery is an 18ct Yellow Gold ring that was left for me by my grandma. My two sisters and I have matching ones and it’s definitely a piece that means a lot to me. It is cut so beautifully and always catches the light, it’s such a classic and even though it has gone through three generations it is still so beautiful and truly timeless.
What's your favourite Laings piece?
The 18ct Rose Gold Pear Cut Morganite and Diamond Halo Ring, I love the combination of morganite and rose gold. It creates a really feminine look and the pink hues match each other beautifully. I think this piece is the perfect balance of elegance and eye catching style and I would love to see it underneath the Christmas tree this year.
What do you feel you've learnt and what has surprised you about working at Laings?
Every day I am learning something new, whether it’s researching a brand for a blog post or fact-finding about diamonds. The world of luxury jewellery and watches is constantly changing and there’s always more to discover.
What has surprised me the most is the versatility of the role. The Marketing Team cover an array of tasks and each project differs from the last, which is great because it means no two days are the same. I am so grateful that I get the chance to work on such a variety of activities and gain experience in a range of areas.
What have you enjoyed most about working with Laings?
Working at Laings has been an amazing experience. What I love so much about it is the support that you’re given, if there’s anything I’m ever unsure of or need help with my team and other colleagues are always there to help straight away and nothing is ever too much to ask. It’s a very close-knit company, the Laing family and the Directors are always in the office and stores saying hello and checking in on how things are going. I think this is all part of working for a good family business, we all work together as a team, whether you’re CEO or an intern like me.
