Describe your role in a nutshell

I am the Ecommerce Assistant based in our Head Office in Glasgow. I help deal with the day-to-day running of the website and processing online orders.

What’s your most memorable work moment?

I recently helped a customer select and purchase a ring online from overseas. We’d arranged for the ring to be passed to him before he reached Arrivals and he proposed straight off his flight! I went along to capture the happy moment and celebrate with the couple. It was great being involved from the beginning of the process to the final proposal and seeing how delighted she was with her ring. Being online based I don’t get to meet a lot of my customers so this was particularly special for me.

And the best part of the job?

I particularly love the creative side of my job and contributing to the overall look of the website. Recently I have been part of planning and structuring a new website layout and have really enjoyed working with our web designers to come up with new ideas.

I work alongside a great team which makes all the difference too (I promise they didn’t pay me to say this!)

Describe your typical working day?

On a daily basis I could be helping customers with their enquiries, planning for a product photoshoot or liaising with our developers – but no two days are ever the same. We’re currently working on a new Website due to launch later this year.  This process is pretty full on as we’re starting from scratch, but I’m really excited to work on this project and can’t wait to share the new and improved website with both returning and new customers.

What’s your favourite piece currently online?

It has to be the 12.01ct line necklace! I always love classic diamond pieces and when I saw this one on our model for the Spring Edit I fell in love with it even more. If I had this piece myself I wouldn’t ever take it off!

What’s the differences between shopping online and in-store?

The biggest benefit of online shopping is that you can view every product we have to offer in the comfort of your own home. The main challenge is not having the product in front of you to try on or ask the sales person questions – but that’s where my team and I come in. We are a small but dedicated team that are here to help you with any questions you might have – just send us a message. During working hours we have a Live Messenger service and can speak to customers then and there, otherwise we’re available by email and will do our best to find either your dream ring or top timepiece.

What attracted you to working with jewellery and watches?

I have a degree in jewellery design so it’s always something that I’ve been interested in. I wanted to learn more about the digital and online side to the industry, so this was the perfect opportunity to do just that.

 I am able to use my knowledge and experience everyday, from liaising with customers to helping with the website content, and I am forever learning new things myself. The watch industry was new to me, but one I find very interesting and I love finding out more about it. I don’t have one yet, but I would love to one day invest in a luxury watch myself.
