A meaningful partnership between Breitling and Ocean Conservancy has resulted in a striking Superocean timepiece with strong blue accents that highlight the beauty of the sea. The Ocean Conservancy is a non-profit organisation with a vision to protect the sea from threats such as ocean trash, overfishing and ocean acidification. Their movement helps to put a stop to such threats and allows us to continue enjoying water-exploration.
Since the launch of the Superocean collection in 1957, the range has quickly become an established name in the world of divers’ watches, meeting the demands and wants of water sport aficionados.
The limited-edition model stays true to the Superocean DNA with classic features such as the unidirectional rotating bezel that is marked with 60 minutes and Super-LumiNova® coated dots and hours and minute hands.
Inside the 44mm stainless steel case is a self-winding in-house Calibre 13 movement that offers a chronograph, day and date function. To the rear of the case, it is engraved with the Ocean Conservancy logo along with “1 of 1000” since only 1,000 of this rare model is produced.
To reduce waste, the bold watch comes with two NATO fabric straps created using ECONYL® Yarn. This material is repurposed from nylon waste such fishing nets. All packaging is also made using 100% recycled materials.
To celebrate the launch of the timepiece, Breitling invited 100 guests and other volunteers to clear rubbish that had been disposed of on beaches. Highly successful, the beach clean-up cleared hundreds of kgs of rubbish on the beach in Bali.
