Laings is now one of the largest independent jewellery companies, with stores in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Cardiff and Southampton and are proudly known across the UK as Laings, one brand and one family business.
Formerly known as Parkhouse, our story dates all the way back to 1794 with the founding of Parkhouse in Southampton. Laings was a little later and we embarked on our dazzling journey in 1840 in Glasgow. We expanded into England for the first time in 1995, purchasing Parkhouse and bringing the two luxury jewellers together. In 2005 the family business was spilt between brothers, Stuart and Michael Laing, trading as Laings of Glasgow and Laing Edinburgh, Parkhouse Southampton and Cardiff. The acquisition of Laing Edinburgh and Parkhouse by Laings of Glasgow took place in 2017 and the businesses reunited to become one again, now known as Laings.
This has meant a new look for the Cardiff store and the shop received a sparkling new look! Now whatever city you’re shopping in you’ll know that it’s a Laings store you’re visiting. Whether it’s to buy a gift for a loved one or a special diamond ring, the luxurious surroundings will make every Laings experience an unforgettable one.
We began our celebrations with an exclusive launch party!
It was a fantastic night and the shop was filled with guests admiring their surroundings whilst browsing our stunning selection of jewellery and handsome timepieces. Everyone enjoyed a glass of fizz and delicious canapés – there was even some magic and we were all left bewildered by the magicians amazing tricks! A huge thank you to everyone who made it along on the night.
The celebrations didn’t stop there though and we hosted a weekend long competition to introduce our new store to the city!
On the 14th and 15th of April the Laings team was out and about in the St David’s shopping centre handing out special keys to shoppers. One of these lucky keys unlocked a cabinet in store that had an exclusive prize inside.
The store was kept busy all day with hopeful shoppers trying out their keys and enjoying the luxurious surroundings of the new store. We had three winners on Saturday when we gave away a sparkling Laings pendant, a special voucher for Celtic Manor, as well as an exclusive Laings jewellery box. On Sunday the competition continued and two lucky winners were treated to a diamond pendant and voucher to Celtic Manor.
We hope that all of our customers old and new enjoyed visiting our new store over the launch weekend and we’re looking forward to welcoming more Laings shoppers into store!
