Brilliant cut diamonds are a really popular choice and simply magnificent when set in an engagement ring.
The brilliant, or round brilliant cut, is known for its breath-taking sparkle and it’s the expert craftsmanship that is behind this cut which gives it an undeniable dazzle. It was developed in 1919 by Marcel Tolkowsky, who came from a Belgian family of diamond cutters. He used mathematical calculations to maximise the amount of light that is dispersed through the stone and the 58 facets allow beams to bounce in and out.
Since then it has become a really popular cut.
