Parkhouse Becomes Laing - A Shared Name for Shared Values

As you may know, the Parkhouse business was bought by Scotland’s oldest family jewellery, Laing, back in 1995. Founded in 1840, Laing like Parkhouse has a long, rich history of delivering dreams for its customers, offering the highest quality service and products.

Thanks to a longstanding friendship between the two business, when the time came for John Parkhouse to sell his business he immediately chose Laing as his preferred buyer in recognition of their similar history and shared values.

The Laing business is run by the fifth generation, Michael Laing OBE, and has son Richard. The business revolves around the pursuit of excellence and around family. Michael and Richard continue to travel to Antwerp to personally hand select the diamonds that are sold in both Parkhouse and Laing stores, and the Laing family has become the inspiration for our most loved pieces, with the Family Collection designed for and named after Michael’s granddaughters, daughters and wife.

Because family and family values are so important, the time has come for these two great businesses to officially become one, and from September the Parkhouse stores will become Laing stores.

To celebrate this new name, our Cardiff store will be given a fresh exterior, while our Hampshire store will be making the very exciting move from Above Bar to a new luxury location in the much more accessible WestQuay.

You can continue to expect the same smiling faces, highest level of service and exceptional brands that Parkhouse and Laing have been delivering for over 220 years. We will continue to deliver dreams for all our customers with our own bespoke designed jewellery collections, hand selected diamonds and the best luxury watch brands in the world.

Will the stores be changing?

Following the refurbishment last year, our Cardiff store will be given a fresh exterior with new signage to reflect the new name.

We are delighted to be moving our Southampton store to WestQuay, and a luxurious 21^st century environment. WestQuay offers a convenient and accessible destination for shopping in Southampton, with excellent parking and a proximity to many likeminded brands. Our new store will be bigger, brighter and more welcoming than ever.

Laing currently operates under a different website. Over the next few months we will begin merging the sites together. Any online accounts and wish lists will remain in tact.

Will the team be changing?

Not at all. Our team are what defines our business, and you can expect to see the same experts that you know so well in our stores.

Will the products be changing?

Our hand-picked diamonds and exclusive designs are the heart of what we do, and we will continue to provide the finest pieces for our customers. We will be consolidating our watch offering in our Southampton store to focus on our customers’ most loved brands, but all brands will continue to be available online, with many available for next day delivery or Click & Collect from your nearest store.

Will you still offer workshop services?

Absolutely. Our workshops are a great source of pride for us, and we will continue to offer the same watch servicing, jewellery repair and in house design services that we have offered for so many years.

How do you pronounce Laing?

In Scotland, Laing is pronounced to rhyme with 'lane' rather than 'lang'.
