Our beautiful Family Collection has become our pride and joy! Ever popular, we wanted to make sure you knew who the family behind the collection was, as they are so very special to us. The designs of character, personality and simplicity have become the most popular diamond collection that we have ever created.
Parkhouse has roots in Scotland with the Laing family. First founded in 1840 by James Laing, he quickly became known for exceptional design and superior craftsmanship within the industry. The Laing family has a long tradition in both design and craftsmanship of stunning jewellery. Today, some 176 years later, the Laing Family continues the exceptional family legacy under the ownership of Michael Laing OBE, the great-great-great grandson of James Laing. Michael’s son Richard is also now working within the company, keeping the family traditions alive. To this day, each and every stone is handpicked in Antwerp by Michael or Richard to ensure outstanding cut, colour grade, clarity purity and quality of diamond.
The first Laing store in Edinburgh store opened its doors in 1978 and has been going from strength-to-strength ever since. In 1995, Michael was able to fulfil a long-held ambition of his, as Laing purchased another historic family jeweller, Parkhouse & Wyatt which was established in Southampton in 1794. Michael was then delighted to open a second Parkhouse store in Cardiff in 2000. John Parkhouse and William Laing were in fact very good friends prior to the store purchase and having such aligned values, it made companies coming together, a very special time. This marriage of family businesses meant that Michael was able to spread our quality and expertise to more customers in different parts of the UK, offering the personal and attentive customer experience that Laing had long been known for.
