Many Hands Make Laings Work

Here at Laings of Glasgow, we do much more than just selling diamonds. We have a full in-house production team - everyone from jewellery designers to watchmakers.  This means that we don't just supply jewellery, but we also design and produce it ourselves. This gives us the pleasure of being able to provide a complete bespoke jewellery design service.

Today we'd like to give you a sneak peak behind the scenes at our hard-working jewellery team...

 

 

DESIGN

Jewellery can be one of the most intricate and difficult things to create in the world.  Working with extremely precious materials on a very small scale is no mean feat.  With this in mind, we've enlisted only the best. Laings have been lucky enough to have jewellery designer Kirsty Berry on board with us for over 10 years. Kirsty started with Laings immediately after her graduation from Jewellery & Silversmithing at the prestigious Glasgow School of Art. She works directly with our customers to design something beautiful, discussing ideas and sketching designs until everyone agrees on a design. Her years of experience and fabulous taste ensure that Kirsty always delights our customers.

GOLDSMITH

After the initial creative process, the next step is to take the designs to our master jewellers. They can turn the designs into reality, with their years of training and practice. Creating jewellery by hand can be a tricky and painstaking process, but Steven and Stuart make it look like a doddle. Besides creating jewellery from scratch, our jewellers can also repair, polish and resize a variety of jewellery.

 

 

 

WATCHMAKER

Our resident watchmaker, Ian Anderson, has a wealth of experience, having trained in Switzerland directly under the supervision of brands such as Rolex and Patek Phillipe. Ian's work is of an extremely intricate and delicate nature, and we are very lucky to have someone of his experience and skill working with us here at Laings.
