The Patek Philippe Art of Watches Grand Exhibition New York 2017

The Patek Philippe Art of Watches Grand Exhibition has now opened in New York at Cipriani 42^nd Street and will run until 23^rd July.

Following on from the successful exhibitions in Dubai in 2012, Munich in 2013 and London in 2014, this year’s event has moved to New York, and showcases some incredible historic pieces that once belonged to some of the most influential people in American history, as well as launching 9 special edition pieces.

The US Historic Room exhibits timepieces that have belonged to Henry Clay Frick, Jasper Newton “Jack” Daniel, Ralph R. Teetor, Asa Griggs Candler, John Larsen, General George S. Patton, Duke Ellington, Joe DiMaggio and Admiral Richard Evelyn Byrd. Pride of place items belonging to US collectors James Ward Packard and Henry Graves Jr., including the legendary astronomical “Packard”. Specially created for Packard this minute repeater watch with perpetual calendar displays the moon phases and constellations as seen from Packard’s home town of Warren, Ohio.

Another highlight will be the table clock presented to President John F Kennedy by Berlin mayor Willy Brandt to commemorate the occasion of his historic visit to Berlin in June 1963. It showcases the time in Washington DC, Berlin and Moscow, to mark the opening of direct communication between the US and USSR. This special clock is currently on loan from the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston, Massachusetts.

The exhibition will also recreate the Patek Philippe Museum at Geneva, with over 100 exhibits from the museum on display, offering visitors a chance to learn about the history of watchmaking, as well as viewing a range of the Maison’s most impressive creations from 1839 to the present day.

The impressive exhibition will cover ten themed rooms and a total floor space of 13,000 square feet.
