Limited to just one special collectors’ piece, the Fabergé x Laings Thistle Egg Objet draws inspiration from Fabergé’s extraordinary ‘In Bloom’ collection – a series which pays homage to Peter Carl Fabergé’s renowned flower studies. The thistle was selected as the unique surprise token for the one-of-a-kind creation, inspired by the beauty of nature and Laings’ Scottish heritage. Chosen by Sir Walter Scott as the emblem for George IV's visit to Scotland in 1822, the thistle plant has become a national emblem of Scotland. The Fabergé x Laings 18ct Yellow Gold Navy Guilloché Enamel Egg with Thistle Surprise is destined to become a future heirloom and truly celebrates a sensational partnership between Laings and Fabergé.
A Tale of Impeccable Craftsmanship
The craftsmanship of the Fabergé x Laings Thistle Egg Objet follows suit with the Maison’s esteemed reputation as masters of their art. With each element meticulously hand finished, the creation perfectly demonstrates the mastering of an age-old craft. The captivating hand painted navy blue guilloché enamel shell draws the eye as it shimmers in a metallic take on our classic Laings navy blue. The opening of the egg features a responsibly mined Gemfields cabachon ruby, working as a contrast to the navy blue and acting as a tiny focal point to the exterior of the egg. The attention to detail is mirrored on the inside of the egg, revealing a thistle surprise sitting on 18ct yellow gold, black rhodium plated guilloché base. Each thistle is hand-painted with green and purple enamel.
