The Best of Our Watch Complications

Primarily a wristwatch is used for time-display, but as years have gone on and technology has advanced, luxury timepieces are now equipped with further watch complications to better cater to the modern man’s needs.

Find out more about different watch complications and our picks for each!

Chronograph

The dial of a chronograph watch will look a little busier than a traditional timepiece since it also functions as a stopwatch. It will typically have two or three sub-dials which keeps track of seconds, minutes and hours and is enabled by two pushers, which will “start, stop and restart” the stopwatch. Sometimes it will also have a tachymeter which calculates the speed, this is especially beneficial is you are a motor sport enthusiast!

Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch - Omega’s legendary Speedmaster was the first wristwatch on the moon and has accompanied NASA’s astronauts through all six lunar missions.

Cartier Santos Chronograph - As the newcomer to Cartier’s infamous Santos collection, this timepiece delighted watch-lovers with its good looks and surprisingly symmetrical and balanced case, thanks to the left-handed pushers.

Annual Calendar

How frequently do you hear someone ask, “What’s the date again?” If you’re always someone who’s on the go it’s easy to lose track of time and even forget what date we’re on! This is why the Annual Calendar function is extremely handy, but it is also one of the most intricate watch complications to incorporate within a movement.

Patek Philippe Complications Flyback – This is an extremely impressive timepiece which has the day, date and month at 10, 12 and 2 o’clock. On top of that, it is equipped with a power reserve indication and also a chronograph.

IWC Portugieser Annual Calendar – A very smart and sophisticated model, the dial is IWC’s signature, rich blue sunray dial with a polished stainless steel case on a luxurious black alligator strap. As well as an Annual Calendar, it features the power reserve at 3 o’clock and small seconds at 9.

Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)

Great for frequent flyers, the GMT watch complication allows the watch to portray two or more time-zones at the same time. This is usually enabled by the rotatable bezel which is marked by 24 hours. Travel enthusiasts can make the journey count with a functional timepiece that is full of style!

Tudor Black Bay GMTInject some fun with the “Pepsi” bezel, the Tudor manufactured Calibre is also COSC certified meaning you definitely won’t miss your flight!

Pre-Owned Breitling Navitimer GMTWhile it doesn’t offer a rotatable bezel, you can manage the dual time-zone using the internal bezel which is adjusted by the crown of the watch.

Water Resistance

Water resistance is a key for those who enjoy a dip in the sea. It is an indication of how capable the timepiece is to resist water pressure and harsh conditions whilst submerged.

Omega Seamaster Diver 300mThe iconic model takes inspiration from the sea with its blue bezel and wave dial, which is convenient as blue is the last colour to disappear in the sea!

Panerai Luminor Submersible CarbotechSubmerge into the deepest depths with this unique watch. Crafted by compressing thin layers of carbon fibre, to create Carbotech, this timepiece is particularly robust and ultra-durable.
