The role ofa watchmaker plays an important role in supporting Laings’ growing service business, our long-term vision of investing in the Laings heritage and keeping unique skills alive.

Our Services team assist 37.50 hours per week, 5 days out of 7.

What awaits you?

•    Diagnose wristwatches, identify required parts, and recommend appropriate Laings Service Products.

•    Maintain relevant brand accreditations and technical knowledge of brands, models, and service products.

•    Carry out complete servicing of mechanical and quartz movements, including disassembly, repair, reassembly, lubrication, and adjustment.

•    Perform quality checks on movement performance, cleanliness, timing, casing, polishing, and water resistance.

•    Ensure completed work meets all quality standards and service order requirements before submission to Quality Control.

•    Maintain workshop tools, machinery, materials, and a clean, safe working environment in line with workshop policies and SOPs.

•    Manage service orders, material controls, and accurate progress updates to support efficient workflow.

•    Meet productivity and quality targets while maintaining awareness of workshop and business KPIs.

•    Handle consumables, chemicals, and machinery in accordance with Health & Safety requirements.

•    Coach and support junior team members, share best practice, and contribute to continuous improvement of workshop procedures and brand standards.

•    Escalate significant issues to line management when required.


Attributes and Experience

•    Recognised qualification and/or proven experience as a professional watchmaker servicing mechanical movements.

•    Hold at least one watch brand accreditation.

•    Advanced knowledge of mechanical and quartz movements, casing work, bracelet adjustment, workshop tooling, and machinery.

•    Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail.

•    Strong communication, organisation, and time management skills.

•    Ability to work independently, prioritise workload, and maintain high levels of accuracy.

•    Experience coaching and developing others.

•    Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Outlook and Word.

•    Positive, enthusiastic approach to horology and teamwork.
