This Speedmaster Anniversary series watch is a tribute to the pioneering timepiece- Speedmaster CK 2998, the first OMEGA worn in space, by astronaut Walter Schirra, and captures the same 2nd generation Speedmaster style in modern form. A vintage OMEGA logo is applied on the dial, as well as on the crown, while the caseback features the famous Seahorse medallion, and the engravings, “THE FIRST OMEGA IN SPACE” and “OCTOBER 3, 1962”.
Boasting a stainless steel 39.70 mm case, it is presented on a black leather strap with a stainless steel buckle.
The blue-grey dial is CVD coated, to replicate the tone of some CK 2998 watches produced in the 1960s. Along with indexes and hour/minute “Alpha” hands that are filled with vintage Super-LumiNova, the central seconds “Baton” hand is white varnished to match the transferred markings.
Subdials include a 30-minute recorder at the 3hr mark, a 12-hour recorder at the 6hr mark, and a small-seconds display at the 9hrr mark. While the black aluminium tachymeter bezel features the famous dot over 90.
This timepiece is powered by manual-wind OMEGA Calibre 3861 movement and is water resistant up to 5 bar(50 m).
