With the sixth generation of the Laing family at the helm, we combine a rich heritage with an ambition to invest in our people, communities and future.

The Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in launching the Laings Foundation and establishing how it operates, communicates and creates lasting impact. Working closely with the Marketing Director and colleagues across the business, you will coordinate the Foundation’s launch, charitable partnerships, fundraising programme, governance processes and internal and external communications.

The role suits an organised, proactive and confident coordinator who can move comfortably between detailed administration, event delivery, stakeholder relationships and public representation. You will bring strong judgement and an awareness of the compliance and governance requirements involved in setting up and operating a charitable foundation.

What Awaits You?

Foundation launch, compliance and governance

•    Coordinate the launch of the Laings Foundation, maintaining a clear implementation plan, key milestones, responsibilities and launch activity.

•    Support the development of appropriate governance arrangements, policies, procedures and decision-making records for the Foundation.

•    Maintain accurate documentation, including meeting records, approvals, charity partner due diligence, donation records, data and impact evidence.

•    Work with internal stakeholders and external advisers to help ensure Foundation activity meets relevant legal, regulatory, financial, data protection and fundraising requirements.

•    Support transparent reporting and maintain an organised audit trail for funding decisions, expenditure, activities and outcomes.

•    Monitor emerging best practice in charitable giving, corporate foundations, fundraising and social impact.

Fundraising events and activations

•    Plan, manage and execute flagship fundraising events, including the Laings Foundation gala dinner, golf day and other internal or client-facing initiatives.

•    Own event plans, timelines, budgets, suppliers, guest communications, logistics, risk considerations and post-event evaluation.

•    Source compelling auction and raffle prizes by building relationships with brand partners, suppliers and local businesses.

•    Coordinate prize records, valuations, permissions, fulfilment and winner communications, ensuring activity follows the relevant fundraising requirements.

•    Support colleagues and Foundation Ambassadors to deliver local fundraising activity across Laings showroom locations.

Foundation marketing and communications

•    Manage the marketing of the Laings Foundation internally and externally, working closely with the wider Marketing team.

•    Develop and maintain an annual communications plan covering the Foundation launch, charity partnerships, fundraising events, volunteering and impact stories.

•    Create clear, engaging content for internal channels, the Laings website, social media, PR, client communications and event materials.

•    Launch and manage the Foundation presence on Microsoft Viva Engage, using it to share updates, encourage participation and celebrate colleague contributions.

•    Protect the reputation of Laings and its charity partners by ensuring claims, approvals, imagery and impact communications are accurate and appropriately authorised.

Charity and stakeholder management

•    Build and maintain strong relationships with national charity partners, local charities, community groups, clients, suppliers and internal stakeholders.

•    Manage incoming charity requests and coordinate donation, sponsorship and partnership decisions in line with agreed criteria and budgets.

•    Act as a confident ambassador and spokesperson for the Laings Foundation at events and presentations.

•    Promote employee volunteering, community participation and charitable giving across the business.

•    Coordinate activity with Foundation Ambassadors and ensure consistent communication across all locations.

Budgeting, monitoring and impact reporting

•    Manage, monitor and report on the Foundation and charitable activity budget, escalating risks or variances promptly.

•    Set and track meaningful KPIs for fundraising, participation, volunteering, community benefit and partner outcomes.

•    Prepare clear updates and reports for senior stakeholders, demonstrating progress, impact, lessons learned and next steps.

•    Support reviews and audits of Foundation and CSR activity, identifying good practice and opportunities for improvement.

Attributes and experience

•    Experience coordinating projects, events, charity partnerships, community programmes, CSR, marketing or a related area.

•    A practical awareness of charity governance, fundraising compliance, financial controls, data protection and reputational risk. Direct experience of setting up or supporting a foundation, charity or grant-making programme would be advantageous.

•    Excellent organisational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage several priorities.

•    Confident written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to varied audiences and representing an organisation externally.

•    Experience managing suppliers, budgets and event logistics, ideally including fundraising events.

•    A natural relationship-builder who can work effectively with colleagues, charity partners, brand partners and community stakeholders.

•    Strong IT skills and confidence learning internal systems. Experience using Microsoft 365 and Viva Engage would be beneficial.

•    A proactive, hands-on approach, sound judgement and a genuine interest in delivering meaningful social impact.
