In 1904, Brazilian aviator Alberto Santos Dumont approached his longtime friend Louis Cartier to complain of being unable to read the time on his pocket watch whilst flying. Together they embraced the challenge and designed the Cartier Santos, often thought of as the “worlds first ever wristwatch”. The Santos timepiece challenges mainstream design, thanks to its unorthodox square shape, exposed screws and practical feeling. Over the course of a century, countless reinterpretations of this timepiece have been spotted on the world’s most famous wrists, including the Santos Galbee and Santos de Moiselle ladies model. The Santos-Dumont de Cartier watch celebrates the traditional Santos de Cartier style with contemporary updates including alligator leather straps, lacquer dials and a quartet of metal options including stainless steel, rose gold, yellow gold and platinum.

Cartier Santos timepiece made in a 46.6mm x 33.9mm case size, crafted from stainless steel featuring a silver satin-finished sunray Roman numeral dial with blued steel sword-shaped hands and a 18ct yellow gold bezel. Powered by a manual winding movement, this model is presented on an Anthracite grey alligator-skin strap, with a steel ardillon buckle. Water resistant up to 30 metres.
