In 1916 Officine Panerai filed a patent for a substance they named “Radiomir” which is a radium-based powder that is luminous, used on the dials of their inventions, instruments and devices. The Radiomir models feature large cushion-shapes steel cases, luminescent numerals and indexes, wire lugs and hand-wound mechanical movements. This model has initially been designed for the brave souls of the Navy and has since then evolved to where today it is proudly worn by the gentleman of the modern age.
