SIHH 2016: Behind The Scenes

Last week saw the SIHH or 'Salon International de Haute Horologie' 2016 conference coming back to Geneva for another year. One of the luxury watch trade's biggest fairs, this prestigious watch fair is one of the best places to see new additions in the watch industry, as well as to catch up with the latest on established brands. Laings were delighted to travel to Switzerland for the show this year, and our very own Senior Watch Sales Consultant Haydn Ashcroft was on hand to tell us some of the highlights of his horological travels.

Can you tell us a few of your favourite pieces?

Panerai are producing a PAM786 box set this year (limited to 500pcs) which looks pretty exciting! Panerai also showed a 42mm Radiomir 1940 which they are releasing (PAM655).

 

Any major talking points at SIHH?

The new IWC Pilots 36mm is definitely worth talking about. It's more of a ladies watch or a small gents. A lot of the girls working for IWC were wearing them and they looked great. There are some nice colours available on some cool Santoni straps.

Any shakeups at the conference?

Well, Jaeger-LeCoultre are essentially completely renewing the Reverso range for its 85th birthday. They will be offering customers the ability to customise their Reverso - this service will be boutique only for the first year, though.   There are options for Christian Louboutin straps etc which
