Panerai Exclusive for Laing
Offering a blend of Italian design, Swiss technology and a passion for the sea, Officine Panerai is world renowned for its design, innovation and history dating back more than 150 years. Born in Florence in 1860, this luxury watch manufacturer – which supplied measurement and precision instruments to the Italian Navy in the nineteen hundreds – is one of today’s finest watchmakers and international brands.
The deep-rooted links with the sea combined with the heritage of the brand bestow on each watch a sporting character that is both unique, authentic and highly distinctive. Signature characteristics include a luminous dial seen on the 2014 models with the Super-LumiNova effects on the hour indices. At 3 o’clock there is a prominent panel proudly showcasing the brand’s iconic patented crown protecting device which gives Panerai watches the distinctive face loved by many.
In the 1940s, the Panerai workshops in Florence perfected a new case, designed to meet the increasing demands of the commandos of the Italian navy. The case, which was originally from the 1930s, is known today as the Radiomir, a term, which originally referred to the luminous material patented to make the dial readable in the dark and under water. As well as the Radiomir case, the chronograph is a signature of Officine Panerai with the first chronograph made by Officine Panerai in 1943, the year in which the prototype of the Mare Nostrum was also presented to deck officers of the Italian Navy.
This long experience lives on today in the wide range of Panerai chronographs available. All designs have been inspired by the original models created in the thirties and forties and enhanced by the technical content of high quality watchmaking.
The state-of-the-art technology, developed in Neuchâtel in a variety of calibres, enables Panerai enthusiasts to choose the functions best suited to stopping time in their own way: Chronograph, Chrono Flyback, Chrono Regatta Countdown, Chrono Monopulsante, Chrono Rattrapante. The 2014 collection includes new and exclusive chronographs, which enhance Officine Panerai’s range in this chosen area of high quality sports watchmaking.
