After 5 years of careful crafting TAG Heuer has launched the new Carrera Heuer 01, a bold and masculine design housing their new manufacture movement, the Heuer 01.

This new in-house movement, named in honour of their founder Edouard Heuer, is described as an “horological development of the calibre 1887”, is made the feature of this new Carrera, which breaks away from the much-loved collection’s traditional build.

Featuring a skeleton dial, with colour highlights throughout the movement, the result is an impressive and highly desirable, and wearable, concept that offers so much of what people like about skeleton timepieces. It exemplifies the edgy, less-is-more approach, truly living up to TAG’s avant-garde ethos.

With its black, steel, and red case, the 45mm-wide TAG Heuer Carrera Calibre Heuer 01 looks even better on the wrist. The bold dial and hands are cool looking, and the overall design is fun and exciting.

Unlike the cases of Carreras to date, which have always been created from a single piece, this new model features a modular construction of 12 different components, allowing for hundreds of different options and combinations of straps, materials and finishes.

The magic of a mechanical watch today is the mechanical movement and smart watchmakers know how to show that movement off to enthusiasts. TAG Heuer carry this off beautifully, with details that are carefully crafted to draw the eye into the mechanism.
