Happy New Year: The Year of the Rooster
This weekend - Saturday 28th - celebrations will erupt all over the world as communities celebrate Chinese New Year in style!
According to the Chinese zodiac 2017 is the Year of the Rooster and in particular the Fire Rooster. If you were born in 1957 or 2017, as fire roosters, you're naturally trustworthy, motivated and responsible. Fire Roosters are also talkative, popular and loyal.
As one of the most important holidays in the Chinese calendar New Year is a truly colourful celebration that's full of light and sound. There's beautiful parades, bright dragon dances and elaborate dinners. Celebrants will wear brand new clothes, that are usually red to symbolise new beginnings and ward off bad omens. There will be extravagant firework displays and families will give relatives red envelopes filled with 'lucky money'.

Happy Chinese New Year from all at Laings - we hope you have a wonderful time celebrating!
