We were delighted to host a fantastic launch event for our new Glasgow Flagship Showroom on the evening of our opening day, Thursday 13th June 2024. An unforgettable and experiential event, we celebrated our fundamental Laings pillars – Heritage, Craftsmanship and Expertise.

Glasgow Flagship Showroom Launch Event

HERITAGE
We celebrated Laings heritage by creating Lanson champagne cocktails based on the personality of each lady in the Laings family collection – Wendy, Isabella, Suzanne, Esme and Anna. Each cocktail creation incorporated the essence of the collection by matching the colours and personality attributes of their muse. Our guests were also invited to learn about the family heritage and story of Laings. We created a soft seating area with wireless headphones, where clients listened to the story of Laings so far, voiced by our President, Stuart Laing (OBE) and his daughter, Company Director, Wendy Walsh (Laing). There was a visual timeline for guests to explore and an original Laings chronometer on display (pictured below). A testament to the heritage and historic significance of Scotland’s oldest family-run jewellers.

CRAFTSMANSHIP
Our Goldsmiths and Bespoke Designers were on hand to demonstrate their crafts and teach clients about their work at Laings. With our goldsmiths showcasing their daily craft and tools at a real workbench, clients were given the opportunity to experience jewellery craft firsthand. A second bench hosted Bespoke Jewellery Design materials. Our designers visually guided clients through the process, from consultation, to design, to stone selection and craft. The exceptional Hero of Bespoke collection was presented at the event with an exclusive first look at its latest addition, The ULA collection. Designed by Glasgow’s very own Kirsty Berry, the radiant pieces wowed guests with its mesmerising pink and green tourmaline stones.

EXPERTISE
The event celebrated a fundamental pillar at the core of our business, expertise. Our Glasgow team shared their knowledge with guests for the duration of the event, welcoming the exploration of our handmade fine jewellery. Throughout the evening, the team provided diamond masterclasses – an interactive demonstration teaching clients about the selection of our Laings diamonds, including a guide to the 4C’s of diamond grading: cut, colour, clarity, and carat. Throughout this experience, guests had the rare opportunity to handle a rough diamond. Our diamond expertise flowed through every element of the special event, with diamonds tastefully incorporated within our canapes and food selection to ensure our guests experienced a truly sparkling evening.
