Laings of Glasgow uses IGI (International Gemological Institute), GIA (Gemological Institute of America) and the HRD (Hoge Raad voor Diamant) to certify our diamonds. These are the main three laboratories in the diamond industry and all have excellent reputations and standards. Through these laboratories we have the highest level of diamond certification from renowned institutes. They act as an independent authority when it comes to grading your diamond, meaning that they can be trusted and are unbiased – therefore you know exactly what you’re getting.

Diamond Certification can be seen as ‘quality analysis’. It provides all the information, from the 4 C’s (carat, colour, clarity and cut) to any extra information, including things such as fluoresence and polish. Before you take the plunge and buy a diamond you may have already considered the 4 C’s and this is the best way to give you peace of mind that they’re right.

A certified diamond from one of these laboratories means that is has been scientifically measured and the characteristics of the diamond professionally evaluated. The correct instruments have been used and a rigorous process has been carried out, this independent process supports the value of the diamond.
