Chopard's Latest Head Turner

The Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph GPMH launched at BaselWorld 2014 got me particularly excited about the brand.

This watch model is one of three in its family range and is inspired by vintage cars, which is incorporated into the design and aesthetics of its dial with the second hand and two chronograph hands being a racing yellow colour. This yellow is made even more striking by having a yellow outer rim of the dial and yellow stitching on its black leather racing strap.

I love this watch with its vintage look and even the classic black leather racing strap has three holes incorporated into its strap design which is synonymous with racing watches. The two sub dials of the chronograph are black, which further emphasises the yellow hand and makes the sub dials easy to read for fast reference against the bright white dial.

For any racing fans or those with an interest in a sporty yet classic look, I would look no further than this watch as it certainly is a 'head turner' when on the wrist. I was fortunate enough to have this watch on my wrist during our meeting in Basel (the largest watch show in the world) and have not been able to stop dreaming of this watch since! It is remarkably light in weight due to its titanium case, which makes this watch even sportier however only to the wearer, a typical subtle touch by Chopard as it looks like a steel case to the naked eye.

Much like Chopard's watch and jewellery collection, this watch is very well priced for its functionality, design and being made by Chopard themselves. Watch collectors talk about 'if I could only have 3 watches’... For me, one would be a classic slim cased leather strap dress watch for evening occasions, an everyday watch that is durable and most likely steel and  the third which would have to be a very different watch with an element of unusual colour to make it really stand out and must be a watch brand to be proud of with its values and what it says about me. This will be worn on the day's I'm feeling quirky. Well ladies and gentlemen the new  Monaco Historique watch is certainly that watch!
