An Evening of Adventure with Laings and NORQAIN

On Thursday 19th March, Laings and NORQAIN welcomed guests to The Scotsman Picturehouse in Edinburgh for an immersive evening with acclaimed adventure photographer and filmmaker Hamish Frost. It was a night shaped by storytelling, exploration, and the craftsmanship of one of Switzerland’s most exciting young watch brands: NORQAIN.

Before the screening, guests were invited to explore an exclusive presentation of NORQAIN’s Swiss‑made timepieces, a brand whose ethos aligns beautifully with the evening’s theme of exploration and adventure.

From robust diving bezels to skeletonised dials and innovative carbon composites, NORQAIN watches combine modern engineering with an active lifestyle. 

A Cinematic Journey with Hamish Frost

As guests took their seats in the atmospheric Picturehouse, the evening shifted into a visual celebration of human grit and wild landscapes. Hamish Frost introduced himself and his work, exploring how through his career he has embodies the NORQAIN spirit of, ‘your life, your way’. 

The cinema then captivated the audience, telling the story of a climbing expedition to an unexplored valley in the Himalayas. Viewers were transported to icy ridgelines, alpine ascents, and moments of quiet determination that define the world of mountain adventure.

Hamish’s short film displayed not only his technical mastery but also his ability to capture the intimate stories behind remote expeditions. Following the screening, Hamish joined the audience for an engaging Q&A session, sharing insights on documenting extreme environments, balancing safety with creative ambition, and staying inspired in unpredictable conditions.
