Paving the Way to the Future by Paying Homage to its Past: Discover TUDOR at Watches and Wonders 2023

Celebrated for its adventurous spirit, technical prowess and an acute sense of style, TUDOR watchmaking blends a rich history and bright philosophy that ultimately embodies fearlessness. Expanding on its existing collections of excellence the brand has released five new variations of its classic models in a 2023 launch that paves the way towards its future by paying homage to its past.

Black Bay

TUDOR introduces the newest Black Bay, the latest evolution of the emblematic diving watch. First launched in 2012, the original Black Bay carried an iconic burgundy dial, today it returns in a new form, foreshadowing the aesthetic and technical future of the line. The emblematic design in the Black Bay collection is another example of the brand’s expert command of one of the industry’s most demanding standards in terms of chronometry and resistance to magnetic fields. Tested by the Federal Institute of Metrology or METAS and fully chronometer certified, the new model brings together cutting-edge watchmaking technology with design elements inspired by TUDOR’s nearly seven-decade heritage of making robust professional diving watches.

Black Bay 54

Whilst the whole Black Bay line references a range of TUDOR’s early dive watches, the all-new Black Bay 54 is the most true-to-form example of TUDOR’s first dive watch, the reference 7922. The 37mm case retains the classic proportions of yesteryear yet boasts the technical prowess of TUDOR’s time-only Manufacture Calibre MT5400 and a 200m depth rating. True to form, the unidirectional bezel is devoid of any graduated marks, echoing the days of the early ’50 when SCUBA diving was in its infancy and TUDOR produced a watch for those only daring enough to try it. The new aesthetic details also see a T-fit rapid adjustment system and seconds hand that recalls the look of the original collection with a lollipop design. Ergonomics have too evolved, with a redesigned crown and bezel, both featuring historical proportions in a modern expression of the classic model.

Black Bay 31/36/39/41

The Black Bay 31/36/39/41 models bring a unique aesthetic to the namesake’s collection. The curved cases feature a combination of finishes that elevate the watch in a contemporary fashion, offering a design language that slightly departs from the brand’s iconic tool watch spirit, to embrace a sophisticated, unisex look. New for this year is an array of sunray dials that further push the watch in a stylish direction, blue, anthracite and light-champagne coloured, the collection embraces a contemporary but versatile design in a soft silhouette accentuated by a new winding crown.

Black Bay GMT

The TUDOR Black Bay GMT is an incredible multiple time-zone complication that establishes local time without losing sight of that in two other time zones. Recognisable by its rotatable bezel which borrows its deep blue and burgundy colour scheme from other models in the line, the Black Bay GMT is a nod to the early days of its high-flying aesthetic. Now TUDOR has added the option of an all-new white opaline dial that perfectly complements the iconic colour scheme of the collection. Through a galvanic process, a matte white-grey finish is applied to the dial, and the marker surrounds are darkened to create a noticeable contrast that is beyond reminiscent of the mid-century boom in commercial aviation watchmaking.

TUDOR Royal

Royal is a name first used by TUDOR in the 1950s to emphasise the superior quality of its watches, and the much-loved collection has been expanded with two new dial designs. Radial-brushed salmon and chocolate brown versions both offer an unexpected and exquisite aesthetic that builds on the sporty chic watches from the collection. A self-winding watch with an integrated bracelet makes for an aesthetically sophisticated selection that carries first-class technical performance with  refined versatility.
