Iconic Jewellery Moments in 2022

The jewellery industry thrived in 2022 - from the return of playful vintage trends to new pieces and statement designs. Megan Fox leads by example with her pear-cut two-stone engagement ring fashioned with an emerald and diamond. The custom magnetic thorn band is a symbol of eternal love with her fiancé as it is designed to not be taken off without hurting her.  High-profile events have acted as a display of artistic jewellery design and fantasy. Exquisite jewellery has been in the limelight from the Oscars to catwalk shows, here we look back at the most iconic jewellery moments of the year.

The Oscars

The Oscars paved the way for iconic jewellery earlier this year, with statement high jewellery adorning the high-profile guests. Jada Smith’s sizeable leaf diamond earrings with turquoise titanium stole the show, perfectly paired with a silk emerald dress. Jessica Chastain looked beautiful in her striking lion head necklace, featuring 58cts of white gold, opal, tanzanites and diamonds. Vanessa Hudgens was a focus of attention too, with her dazzling emerald and diamond necklace, boasting over 23cts placed around her neck and wearing matching earrings to compliment the piece.

The Met Gala

The Met Gala never fails to produce a display of truly spectacular jewellery, and this year was no different. Dwayne Wade sported a mixed cluster diamond necklace, earrings, and gold rings. However, the standout piece was his ‘bird on a rock’ brooch which featured a large 54ct citrine. Bella Hadid stood out and divided opinions by wearing layered pearls around her ankle over her black tights and dress ensemble. As is the norm with the Met Gala, beautiful tiaras made an appearance too. Emma Chamberlain looked breathtaking in a large Cartier choker-style diamond necklace and matching tiara to complete the look. Perhaps the most creative with their look was actress Blake Lively, who dressed in a custom-made statue of liberty inspired tiara and earrings set, with over 100cts of nude and bronze diamonds and tourmalines.

Cannes Film Festival

Julia Roberts excelled in her role as Chopard ambassador at The Cannes Film Festival, with all eyes on her incredible over 100ct yellow diamond pendant necklace. Another striking diamond necklace was worn by Deepika Padukone, as she challenged history at the Cannes Film Festival, being the first Indian after almost a decade to be invited to the Cannes Film Festival as a jury member. In a statement of bold allure and confidence, and as a recent brand ambassador, she fittingly wore the Panthère De Cartier, featuring 18ct white gold, emerald eyes, onyx spots and brilliant-cut diamonds totalling 19.05cts. Lashana Lynch looked stunning in Chopard emerald and diamond earrings. Another artistic piece on display that showcased fine jewellery design, was Viola Davis’s 35ct yellow diamond and sapphire ring, featuring a unique hummingbird design.

The Emmy Awards

The Emmy Awards celebrated artistic and technical television talent. Stars sparkled in extravagant jewellery, heavily featuring a rainbow of gemstones and of course, diamonds. Rhea Seehorn was glowing in an array of warm fire tones, with orange sapphire, fire opal and ruby earrings. She completed the look with a 10ct orange sapphire dome ring, a nude diamond ring and a three-stone yellow diamond ring. Amanda Seyfried opted to wear Cartier, dressed in dazzling diamond and platinum drop earrings, complete with Cartier wedding bands. Reese Witherspoon looked spectacular in a platinum necklace with aquamarines, blue zircons, and diamonds, accompanied by matching diamond earrings, and an aquamarine and diamond ring. These choices were the perfect match for her deep blue sequin dress.
