Unveiling Symbols Of Treasure With Cartier’s Watches and Wonders Presentation

Cartier, driven by the vision of beauty, transcends the jewellery and watch industry as a cultural icon – celebrated by luxury enthusiasts and celebrities alike. Since its creation in Paris by Louis-François Cartier in 1847, Cartier has evolved through welcoming visionaries and free spirits into the Maison. Pushing boundaries, an innovative spirit and embracing the rich diversity of other cultures, Cartier brings together a harmonious balance of creativity and legacy to create eternal symbols of admiration.

Once again, Cartier released its Watches and Wonders collection with the innovative online showcase – Cartier Watchmaking Encounters. This year’s collection pays homage to the history of Cartier and its legacy of fusing jewellery and horology, alongside elegant design. As Cartier says, “Time is not only what measure, but what we treasure.”.

Cartier Privé Tank Chinoise

Cartier Tank Chinoise

Despite being one of the most iconic timepieces in the world, Cartier never ceases to thrill with its evolution of the Tank family. Originally designed by Louis Cartier in 1917 using the inspiration of the linear structure of a military tank, the Tank evolved remarkably quickly to introduce the Tank Chinoise, brought to the world by Cartier in 1922. This new design drew on the mystical ancient world of Asia, using Chinese temples to create a look that combined the magic of two continents.

The Tank Chinoise returns for 2022 in a celebration of its 100th anniversary, with sophisticated nods to its Chinese cultural and architectural inspiration. At the Oscars 2022, Jake Gyllenhaal debuted the previously unseen Tank Chinoise in 18k yellow gold from this year’s Watches and Wonders collection for the first time, to the delight of watch fans.

The three skeleton models from the collection are engineered with a 9627 MC calibre, enabling a striking design that leans even further into the Chinese heritage, with geometric patterns and the culture’s signature red colour that symbolises luck and prosperity.

Tank De Cartier

Last year, Cartier brought back the Tank Must with monochromatic colours blue, green and red that were reminiscent of the 1980’s splendour and colourful era. The Tank Must returns for 2022 alongside the Tank Louis Cartier with new colourways, including the red and grey Tank Louis Cartier and monochromatic Tank Must, all underscored by black detailing.

In the realm of luxury watches and Cartier’s 2022 collection, the Tank Must is Cartier’s most accessible timepiece, achieved through stainless-steel encasing, though never compromising on design.

Cartier De Coussin

Cartier Coussin

Playing to Cartier’s reputation as the Maison that bridges jewellery and watchmaking, the Coussin De Cartier is the embodiment of haute horology with gemstone finishes and an avant-garde aesthetic. Each piece within the Coussin collection features a quartz movement and is encrusted with diamonds which exude lasting femininity.

The entry Coussin is 27mm with 165 spiralling diamonds in a white or rose gold case, featuring Cartier’s classic roman numerals and the quintessential softened square shape of the collection. The 30mm models see Cartier experiment with colour in an unusual way for the Maison, with a palette of greens, golds and pale pinks that feels playful and Amazonian at the same time.

Cartier De Coussin

Two limited editions from the Coussin collection use the innovation of a gold link grid pattern to create a case that is both cushion-like in its shape and to touch. Entirely paved with diamonds or coloured stones including emeralds, sapphires, tsavorites and tourmalines, each model is limited to 20 pieces and will undoubtedly become the coveted choice of Cartier collectors worldwide.

Cartier De Masse Mystérieuse

Cartier Masse Mysterieuse

It took eight years of research for Cartier to achieve a calibre that sits within a semi-circle. This feat of development holds true to the very name of the collection, which means mystery, to challenge the parameters of watchmaking both technically and artistically.

The calibre 19801 MC sees the ultra-thin rotor display all the workings of the timepiece, exhibited through a 43.5mm platinum case. With mystery comes scarcity, which is why the Cartier De Masse Mystérieuse is limited to only 30 pieces worldwide.

Cartier De Pasha

Cartier Pasha

This year’s Pasha collection breaks from the rest of Cartier’s Watches and Wonders presentation, exploring the world of timepieces beyond dress watches and focusing on enriching the lives of the everyday wearer. The Pasha has always been sporty in spirit and the 2022 models honour this philosophy of the model with intriguing new additions such as a chronograph, a moonphase complication, a tourbillion, and a skeleton dial.

Pasha De Cartier

Cartier has also introduced a trio of Pasha de Cartier Grilles, which feature a removable grid over the dial. As much of the rest of the collection, Cartier took inspiration from its past to inform its present with this design, which is a nod to the 1943 timepiece that used a similar cage to keep it waterproof.
