Spring Cleaning Your Jewellery

As the golden days of spring dawn and nature begins to blossom, the season brings with it new beginnings. Just as you would spruce up your home or garden it’s the perfect time to give your jewellery a little spring clean too. Explore our top tips for cleaning your jewellery.

Here we have a look at why keeping your jewellery clean is so important, as well as sharing a few top tips from our service department to keep your cherished pieces sparkling.

Cleaning your Jewellery

Often we wear our beloved watches and jewellery every day, this means they travel to work with us, exercise with us, walk the dog with us and so much more. Exposure to all of the elements can leave our pieces dull or even damaged if they aren't taken care of properly. Ultimately you want your jewellery to last as long as possible, so keeping it clean is paramount. Use the following steps to clean your diamond jewellery, and trust us you'll see a huge difference!

HOW SHOULD I CLEAN MY JEWELLERY?

Use warm water and a drop of dish soap to soak your items. Once the water has cooled use an old soft toothbrush to gently dismantle any dirt or dust, then dry thoroughly with a jewellery or microfibre cleaning cloth.

Top Tips

We recommend avoiding things that involve complex concoctions or chemicals, keep it simple and if in doubt leave it to the professionals. Here are a few do's and dont's from our experts.

DON'T - wear your pieces while doing heavy tasks such as gardening, working out or cleaning.

DO - buy a baby's toothbrush if you don't have an old one. Their bristles are soft and have the same gentle effect.

DO - keep on top of your everyday pieces by giving them a nightly wipe down with a soft, clean cloth to remove any sweat, film or moisture.

DO - store your pieces properly in a soft lined jewellery case to avoid scratching.

DON'T - use abrasive cleaners or paper-based clothes, they can scratch the surface of your gem or precious metal.

If your precious pieces need a little more care and attention, visit our SERVICE DEPARTMENT and we'll ensure they stay sparkling for many years to come.
