A Look at the IWC Da Vinci

Since 1868, IWC have respectfully earned their reputation for being one of the leading Swiss watch brands in the world. With technological innovation at their core, their creations combine precision with simplicity, manufacturing some of the world’s most sought after designs. Perhaps the most charming of all time, the Da Vinci collection, maintains its classic appeal whilst retaining IWC’s innovative spirit.

Needless to say, the collection has a strong emphasis on craftsmanship and artistry. Now, there are a variety of models available in the collection and here we have a closer look at the IWC DA VINCI and why it is a timepiece loved by all.

Da Vinci DNA

In 1969 the first IWC Da Vinci timepiece was created. Powered by a quartz movement it had a hexagonal gold case and was a very different style from the fluid look of today. Inspired by the inventive character of Leonardo Da Vinci the collection naturally embodies innovation and design whilst channelling Swiss magic and allure.

Today the collection has a different look. Over the years IWC have continuously modified and improved on their designs, now the collection is at the forefront of style, whilst never letting go of its timeless charm. Some characteristics of the current collection are their flexible lugs, allowing straps to fit the wrist snugly, a large round case, Arabic numerals, slim feuille hands for legibility and a double-framed bezel paying homage to the design of the iconic Perpetual Calendar from 1985. These authentic elements combine to make a watch-lovers dream and a truly appealing range for both men and women.

A Closer Look

One of the history’s most intricate feats of watch-making the IWC DA VINCI PERPETUAL CALENDAR CHRONOGRAPH is a work of art.

Da VinciDa Vinci

This exquisite model combines double chronograph counters with a Kurt Klaus moon phase system and places them both on a sub-dial, using the IWC-manufactured 89630 calibre. The beautifully rendered moon phase indicator is dictated by the astonishingly accurate Portugieser Grande Complication which deviates by just 0.002%, or 1 day in 122 years. Crafted in 18ct 5N gold the timepiece features a large 43mm case, silver-plated dial with an artistic night sky moon-phase and dark brown Santoni alligator leather strap. An additional feature that adds to the unique charm of this model is the sapphire crystal case back, allowing the wearer to take a look at the inner workings of the movement and appreciate the craft at the heart of the Da Vinci.
