Jaeger-LeCoultre – A Discovery of Watchmaking

Made by Makers

Jaeger-LeCoultre began its story in the heart of the Vallee de Joux in the Swiss mountains, known as the birthplace of watchmaking. Founded in 1833 they have become known worldwide for their

dedication to the fine art of watchmaking, showing heritage, inventiveness and creativity for 185 years. They truly are ‘makers’ and the craftsmen that bring a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch to life are highly skilled. Their determination, hard-work and courage are what make their timepieces truly special.

“How long it takes is irrelevant. What matters is how long it will last” – The Makers Spirit

Since their founding every Jaeger-LeCoultre watch, from calibre to case, has been designed, made and assembled in the Manufacture by master watchmakers. The Manufacture was the brands pioneering image to bring every trade involved in creating a luxury timepiece together and now there are 180 skills all under one roof.

The impressive building is still on the same site and through its doors there are highly skilled craftsmen engraving, enamelling and gem-setting, as well as guillochage and sprung balance workshops. There has been almost 1,300 calibres created, from the automatic to the most complicated and they are constantly innovating. In the Manufacture traditional crafts combine with state-of-the-art technology and hundreds of different parts all come together to bring these beautiful timepieces to life.

Jaeger-LeCoultre pride themselves on both their mechanical movements and their aesthetics. They are known for their elegant and refined models and the combination of the past, present and future characterises all of their designs. Over the years, they have created some iconic collections, such as the Reverso from the art deco movement in 1931 and the Master collection, classic timepieces with masculine lines. The beautiful timepieces are exemplary, drawing on their heritage, but the revered brand are always looking to the future.
