Rolex Fastnet Race

On Sunday 6th August, the Rolex Fastnet Race once again saw sailors from all over the world take part in an enthralling race from Cowes on the Isle of Wight over to the Fastnet Rockoff the southwest coast of Ireland before finishing in Portsmouth. This was the 47th Fastnet race to be undertaken by the brave teams eager to beat their times from previous years.

For the first time ever, Rolex decided to celebrate this race with a jeweller and we were delighted to be the chosen retailer. Not only did our guests enjoy a fantastic live streaming of the race but we were also lucky enough to host the Rolex Baselworld Collection for the event. The excitement all took place at the Royal Ocean Racing Club on Cowes which offered fantastic views over the water.

The day began with the sound of the cannons at preciously 10:50 when the first warning cannons fired. The first start of the day then began at 11 and we excitedly watched the live streaming of the race commencing. The Parkhouse team were delighted to see our guests enjoying a delicious brunch buffet and making the most of the incredible sunshine out on the terrace.

As the afternoon got underway, the mood was definitely kept lively with the Nick Cane band who provided fantastic live music for the perfect atmosphere. We were delighted to be joined by both Paul Young and David Culter to enjoy the day and thank them for joining us.

We do hope our guests had as fabulous a day as we did and we certainly hope it’s not the last time we will work with Rolex to celebrate the Fastnet race. Huge congratulations to Dongfeng who won the race this year with time of 42 hours and 55 minutes!
