Meet Team Laings – HR Manager Janey Whyte

Welcome to our meet the team feature where you can get to know the people that help make Laings of Glasgow what it is today.

Today it's the turn of the Laings Glasgow HR, Training & Development Manager Janey Whyte. Janey is a relatively new addition to the team and has been with us for 8 months, her job is to help look after the employees for both the Laings of Glasgow store and head office staff.

We asked her to share some of her thoughts on fashion, jewellery and watches and here’s what she had to say:

Whats your favourite jewellery/watch piece that you own?

I got a gorgeous new Emporio Armani watch a couple of weeks ago and I love it because I find that it goes with every outfit and it takes me easily from day through to evening.

What piece of jewellery/watch would you aspire to own?

It has to be the Laings coloured stone swirl ring, although it was hard to decide which colour I wanted as it comes in both Sapphire blue and Ruby red, but I think that sapphire is the one for me. It complements the kind of outfits I like to wear and is quite close in colour to my birthstone - it is a truly stunning piece and would love to own it so I could show it off!

Who is your celebrity style icon?

I think Rachel McAdam has a great smile and she is a classic, natural beauty. She always dresses in an understated way but manages to look polished and stylish.

What would be your Engagement Ring style choice, Classic, Vintage, Modern Classic or Unique?

I would choose the unique style, because I would love to know that the most special piece of jewellery I will ever own is likely to be different to what most other people have.

If you were a character from a movie who would you be?

I love Ginnifer Goodwin as Gigi in "He's Just Not That Into You" - her style is great because she knows how to make accessories work for her, she makes the most of her natural features and has a personality that is bubbly with an infectious positivity.

Let’s talk birthstones, would you stick with your original or change it if you had the choice?

My birthstone is traditionally turquoise but the month of December also has alternative choice which is Tanzantie - I adore it because of its breathtaking colour, the deep blue and purple shades sparkle with a fierce vibrancy that stands out even from a distance.

In your opinion what is the best buy available in your store?

I can say without doubt that it is the 18ct white gold Mikimoto bracelet, as  you are getting gorgeous precious metal and genuine pearls from a premium brand at an exceptional price. I can see this being a piece I would wear all throughout my life because it is a classic, delicate bracelet and would work with any outfit.
