How to Find the Perfect Ring Size

Are you looking to purchase a ring online or surprise a loved one but are unsure of the size? Explore Laings guide to finding the perfect ring size, giving you the reassurance to make the right decision for you.

Is it better for a ring to be tight or loose?

Your ring shouldn’t feel too tight or too loose and should be comfortable to wear every day. When taking your ring on and off, there should be resistance as it the ring moves over your knuckle, wiggling the band to create movement. A sign of a well-fitting ring is also the small indentation in your finger that occurs after wearing it for long periods of time. This shouldn’t feel sore or irritated, simply occurring over time as your finger moulds to the shape of your ring.

Planning a surprise proposal and ring sizing

If you’re planning a proposal and are not sure of the size, don’t try to guess as Laings is here to help. We recommend taking your chosen ring with you in its original size and proposing to your other half. After this, we invite you back to the showroom where you can enjoy a glass of champagne, share your wonderful engagement story, and have our experts measure the size thoroughly and accurately. You may need to leave your ring with us to be resized in our state-of-the-art workshops where our Goldsmiths, with their years of expertise, will adjust it to fit perfectly.
