On Wednesday Night the Herald Scotland hosted the prestigious Scottish Family Business Awards at the exquisite Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow. The Herald acknowledged esteemed family businesses throughout Scotland under the categories of Fastest Growing Family Business, Business Innovation, International Growth Award, Customer Service Excellence, Commitment to the Community, Leading Adviser to Family Business, Rural Family Business and of course, Scottish Family Business of the Year.
The Herald Scottish Family Business Awards in association with Business Gateway recognises and rewards family businesses of all sizes and all sectors in Scotland. Many of Scotland’s biggest and best-known businesses have started out as family firms. Some of these big players have continued to grow under family ownership and management, and have become household names, while others have listed on the stock market and made it all the way to the FTSE-100 index
It was a spectacular evening with a host of directors and management present to represent Laings of Glasgow and their nomination for the Scottish Family Business of the Year Award. The Grand Central hosted a lavish Champagne Reception where there was a chance to speak with fellow nominees and members of the Herald Events team who had put together such an exquisite event.
The awards followed hosted by The BBC’s Catriona Shearer with the keynote address coming from Mactaggart & Mickel chief executive Ed Monaghan, who gave his perspective on being a non-family member running a family business. A number of extremely worthy winners were announced with Laings of Glasgow announced as winner of Scottish Family Business of the Year (small/medium) 2013. We were delighted to receive this accolade which acknowledges our innovative marketing and advertising strategies, our new online presence and re-designed online stores and also our successful strategies to move us into the Chinese Market.
A fabulous evening was had by all with celebrations continuing into the night! A huge congratulations to all the winners again, proving that Scotland has exceptional business talent.
